How to get the most from your massage

You've booked your appointment. Here are a few simple things that help you get the most from it.

Before your session

  • Arrive a few minutes early so you can settle in and aren't rushing through the door.
  • Have a light snack beforehand rather than coming in very hungry or very full.
  • Think about your focus. If there's a particular area you'd like worked on, jot it down or mention it when you arrive.

During

Communication is everything. Let your therapist know if you'd like more or less pressure. There's no "right" amount, only what feels right for you on the day. If anything is uncomfortable, just say so.

After your session

  • Drink some water and take it easy for the rest of the day where you can.
  • Move gently. A short walk or some light stretching can feel lovely.
  • Notice how you feel over the next day or two, which helps you plan your next visit.

Looking after yourself between visits

Regular, spaced-out sessions often work better than a single one-off when you're managing ongoing tension. We're happy to suggest a rhythm that suits you. Just ask.

If someone you know could do with the same, a massage gift voucher makes a thoughtful gift: redeemable on any treatment on our menu, and valid for three years.

A handful of simple stretches to do between massages will hold most of the ground you gain, and our notes on how often to get a massage set out the rhythms that tend to work.

Wondering whether you're meant to make conversation the whole time? Do you have to talk during a massage covers pressure, silence and everything in between.

Beautiful massage and a good eye for injuries and body compensation. It was a good mix of relaxing and exactly what my body needed.
