Pregnancy massage
Pregnancy Massage in Innaloo, Perth
Also called prenatal massage. You lie on your side, propped with cushions and a bolster, for a full hour of slow, comfortable work through the back, shoulders, hips and legs. Our studio is in Innaloo, a few minutes from Karrinyup, Scarborough and Stirling, with two reserved bays five metres from the door.

What it involves
Side-lying, and properly propped
The biggest difference from a standard massage is the set-up. Nothing about the hour asks you to lie flat on your front, and the supports go in before the massage starts rather than being adjusted around you halfway through.
How you are positioned
On your side, supported with cushions and a bolster so nothing is under strain. Your therapist keeps adjusting the supports until it genuinely feels easy to lie there, then repositions you partway through so both sides get attention.
What the massage is like
Slow and comfortable through the back, shoulders, hips and legs, the areas carrying the extra load. Pressure is adjusted to your comfort throughout and checked as the hour goes on. It has more in common with a lymphatic drainage session than a firm deep tissue treatment.
What to tell us when you book
How far along you are, and anything your GP or midwife has mentioned that we should know. It lets us set the room and the supports up before you arrive, so the hour starts as an hour rather than as ten minutes of rearranging.
For the fuller walk-through, read our guide to what to expect from a pregnancy massage. If this is your first massage of any kind, our note on what happens at a first appointment covers the practical side.
When to book
Which trimester
Pregnancy massage is most often booked through the second and third trimesters, when the extra weight starts to show up in the lower back, the hips and the legs.
If you are earlier than that, or anything about your pregnancy is being monitored, have a quick chat with your GP or midwife before you book. They know your situation and we are happy to work in with whatever they suggest. We will not make that call for you from a website, and we would rather you had the conversation than skipped it.
Either way, tell us how far along you are when you book. Late in the third trimester the set-up matters more, not less, and knowing in advance means the cushions, the bolster and the room temperature are sorted before you walk in.
Getting here, and getting out again
Two bays are reserved for Fern & Soul clients and clearly signed, about five metres from the front door, with plenty of free street parking around them. Nobody circles and nobody walks a car park, which is worth more the further along you are. You park, you walk in, and afterwards you walk back out to a quiet street rather than into a busy shopping centre.
There is one client in the studio at a time, so the twenty minutes either side of the hour are as unhurried as the hour itself. Choose your room when you arrive.
Why people book it
An hour that is genuinely yours
Pregnancy is busy, physically and logistically. This is one of the simpler ways to take an hour back.
The load comes off
Most of the extra weight is carried through the lower back, hips and legs, and those are the areas the hour is built around. Slow, comfortable work rather than anything intense.
A position you can settle into
Lying comfortably for a full hour gets harder as the months go on. The side-lying set-up with a bolster is the point of the treatment as much as the massage is, and for a lot of people it is the most comfortable hour of the week.
Quiet, and nothing rushed
Ambient lighting, music at your discretion and no background noise behind it. If you would rather have silence, you can have silence. Your only job is to lie there and let the hour be about you.
We will not promise a particular medical outcome, and any pregnancy-related health question belongs with your GP or midwife first. What we can offer is a careful, well-supported treatment built around your comfort.

Book 60 minHealth funds, honestly
We are an ANTA member clinic with HICAPS on site, and claims from recognised Australian health funds are processed on the spot for remedial massage, delivered by our remedial massage therapist. Pregnancy massage is a relaxation-focused treatment and is not claimable on that basis, so please book it expecting to pay the full price.
If you are specifically after a treatment you can claim, that is remedial massage, from $70. What you get back depends on your fund and your level of extras cover. Our plain-English write-up of how health fund rebates work covers the rest.
Prices in AUD. See the full treatment menu for everything else we offer, or a gift voucher if you are booking this for someone else.

Common questions
Pregnancy massage, answered
Is pregnancy massage the same as prenatal massage?
Yes. They are two names for the same treatment, and you will see both used around Perth. We list it as pregnancy massage on the menu and answer to either.
How will I be positioned?
On your side, not face down. You are supported with cushions and a bolster so nothing is under strain, and your therapist adjusts the supports until it genuinely feels easy to lie there. You are repositioned partway through so both sides get attention.
Which trimester can I book in?
Pregnancy massage is most often booked through the second and third trimesters, when the extra load starts to show up in the back, hips and legs. If you are earlier than that, or anything about your pregnancy is being monitored, have a quick chat with your GP or midwife first. They know your situation, and we are happy to work in with whatever they suggest.
How firm is the pressure?
This one is gentle by design. Your therapist works with slow, comfortable pressure through the back, shoulders, hips and legs, and keeps checking that the pace suits you. Pressure is adjusted to your comfort throughout, and firmer is not the goal here.
Can I claim pregnancy massage on my health fund?
No. We have HICAPS on site and claims are processed on the spot for remedial massage, which is a different treatment delivered by our remedial massage therapist. Pregnancy massage is relaxation-focused and is not claimable on that basis, so please book it expecting to pay the full price.
How long is a session, and what does it cost?
Sixty minutes, $110. That is the one length we offer for this treatment, and it leaves room to settle in, get the supports right and still have a full hour on the table.
Is parking difficult?
No. Two bays are reserved for Fern & Soul clients and clearly signed, about five metres from the front door, with plenty of free street parking around them. You park and walk straight in rather than circling a busy centre car park, which matters more the further along you are.
